Reasons why women choose to take land surveys

Liang Lizhen - Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors Student Representative
When it comes to the construction industry, many people will also think of the image of "site construction." They think that this is an industry where only men are involved. It takes the sun and the rain and it takes a lot of energy. This image has been handed down to many women as long as they see the relevant disciplines. They do not hesitate to refuse to enter and study related subjects.
I am currently studying surveying and geoinformatics. I was initially interested in this subject because I thought it was fun to paint drawings and measure the land, but I was worried that the work in the future would be very hard and only a few women would attend. However, based on my own interests, I eventually broke through this psychological barrier. When I was successfully enrolled and started my new life this year, I found it different from what I had imagined.
The number of women is the first, and now many female students are studying subjects on measurement. When working in the future, there are also many different jobs. It is not like people say that only men can do the job. Regarding the subject I am studying at, there are 3 different majors and I can make choices based on my own interests. I myself believe that the future work is very important for the development of Hong Kong. It will be very successful in this industry. The construction industry starts from scratch. From the original empty, to the completion of the entire building, it requires different professions to make a contribution. It is a very interesting job to be able to participate in it until it succeeds.
Therefore, in this era, this is not a job that is limited to men. Women can also play a part in this industry and pursue their own interests. They should not let the image hinder their ideals. Women in this industry can also be full of flaws.
